Matt Poynter began his career as a documentary camera assistant before making the move into drama, working his way through the grades from trainee to Camera Operator. He has worked on a significant number of high-end TV dramas and feature films all around the world.

Matt trained in Steadicam under the guidance of Paul Edwards ACO. He has also undertaken mentoring and tutoring for both the NFTS and Women Behind the Camera.

Matt finds the collaboration between Director, DOP and Operator to be one of the most rewarding aspects of his craft. He enjoys being part of a creative team, working to bring a script to life.

He is a proud member of the ACO, the SOC and the Guild of British Camera Technicians.
